How the Barangay got its name?

Its been a while how our ancestors best described and explained to us the Legend that left as a mark of Barangay Tomas Cabili told us thrilling tales behind the aforementioned Barangay whose origin remain unknown. According to the recent Barangay administration Secretary said that it was therefore named after an American Calvary officer "Tommy" who used to visit the place regularly on a horse or simply the place is called "Nagtubo" which means it grow. Although the certain Barangay's population is fast increasing and growing.

It could bot be a hilarious story to tell because of the reason it must undergo due process if law for legality to govern its sovereignty. First step, Barangay Tominobo was created by vitue of a resolution no. 58, series 1967 of the city council of Iligan a d city ordinance no. 337 which was approved on December 31, 1967.

On 1978, Kagawad Feliciano L. Palos was trying to amend a resolution the Barangay council of Tominobo passed and approved. Secondly, by changing its name from Barangay Tominobo into Barangay Tomas L Cabili in honor of late Senator from Iligan City to commemorate his greatness in the past years. This was being presented during the Barangay Assembly it seems like no one or without a single opposition.

It was also presented at the Batasang Pambansa helding by Assemblyman Henry Y. Regalado of Misamis Oriental as the main sponsor because that time, Assemblyman Abdulah Dimaporo was not able to pre-occupy the sit under election pre-proclamation protest.

Finally on March 16, 1892. The former President Ferdinand E. Marcos that time signed the Batasang Pambansa No. 196 into law. Since then the act renaming Barangay Tominobo to Barangay Tomas Cabili.

We may be had our own version of naming a certain places that would come up into many interpretations. At the same time it made me have a second thought of how ironic those legend were a part of developing and forming a well established areas that play significant value along the time before it has been recognized by the society.
